Government's plastics policies could triple packaging emissions

The Government's ban on unnecessary single-use plastics could inadvertently triple the carbon emissions associated with packaging, according to a pre-Budget report from Green Alliance. And wrapping things up …

  • Adding spice to packaging – Tumeric is being used to extend shelf life in biodegradable film.
  • Lifting the Lid on Plastic – Any colour as long as it’s not black. Part three of our series is now published.
  • Reducing plastic down under – A plastic reduction project with BioPak and Proseal for Costa’s tomatoes.
  • Intepack postponed until 2021 - Messe Düsseldorf is postponing the leading international trade fair interpack. It will now take place from 25 February to 3 March 2021.
  • Reflections on packaging and Covid-19 - Packaging Europe’s Tim Sykes shares his thoughts on the wider implications of coronavirus for packaging… “perhaps society will emerge from the pandemic with a renewed appreciation of the crucial role packaging plays in maintaining the safety and integrity of products.”
