Wastage is a hot potato

Insight / Food Waste

One potato two potato three potato four, five potato six potato seven potato more. And, if the nursery rhyme continued, it might get to “75 out of 100 are eaten no more”.

That is the stark figure recently revealed by Marcus Gover, Chief Executive Officer of WRAP, the organisation that works to deliver practical solutions to improve resource efficiency.

At KM Packaging, we have strong experience of efficient packaging for prepared potatoes. But, as seen in the graphic below, based on WRAP’s own research, only 25 out of 100 loose potatoes actually reach the dinner plate.

We don’t like food waste. Packaging is essential for protecting and preserving food throughout the supply chain from farm to fork.
