Job Description – Management Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly management accounts for Australian and North American entities, ensuring all necessary controls are in place, particularly monthly balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. proof of transfer pricing, cross charges, accruals, and prepayments).
  • Maintain a precise Fixed Asset Register for the Group and individual companies, ensuring alignment with the accounts (GBV, NBV, depreciation).
  • Support the annual audit by preparing required information and responding to queries.
  • Manage bank accounts to maximise interest on balances, ensuring sufficient funds in current accounts to meet payment obligations.
  • Apply company policy regarding forex hedging and dealing.
  • Prepare accurate monthly Plastic Packaging Tax reconciliations.
  • Manage and track the lease register, ensuring correct accounting, including vehicle leases.
  • Administer company cars in coordination with the leasing agent.
  • Prepare key ‘Scope 1-2-3’ environmental measurements annually.
  • Arrange key insurance policies for the company, including renewals and claims management.
  • Oversee mobile phone contracts, balancing cost with service provision.
  • Maintain an up-to-date Health & Safety Register for the Group and conduct annual building checks, managing staff training as necessary (via Human Focus).
  • Develop a working knowledge of company IT systems to enhance efficiency.
  • Represent the Finance department in cross-business project teams and provide ad hoc business reporting as required by the CFO/MD.
  • Perform any other duties as agreed with KM, as required by the role.

Deputising Responsibilities:

  • Cover for the production of monthly management accounts for KM Packaging Services Ltd and the Services Group in the absence of key staff.
  • Prepare accurate monthly Short Term Cashflow Forecasts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with small to medium-sized company environments is advantageous.
